Ọsanyìn
Ọsanyin (Yoruba: Ọ̀sanyìn, rendered Osaín/Ossain/Ossaím in Latin America/Agué in Fon, Aziza in Esan) is the orishaII that has dominion over all Herb and Plant also known for healing and magic. He is known as a powerful wizard and master of all spells and crafts found in the wild and the untamed areas of nature.[1] In America he is syncretized with Saint Joseph.

The properties of herbs and plants are recognized for both their spiritual and physical qualities. It is believed that the force that drives the universe (known as Ase) is, in part, located in plants. Those with the knowledge of plant life and their power can unlock their Ase. The rites indigenous to the faith of the Yoruba cannot exist without the plants and herb provided by Osanyin. It is his magic that is used to conjure the shrines dedicated to the other orishas. Hence, without him, none of the ceremonies can happen.
Among this group are the Herbalist (Onishegun) who diagnose and provide the remedy through dialogue with the deity of Osanyin who acquire the knowledge of herbs and the associated incantations through a system of apprenticeship. The herbs are collected by the Herbalists (Onishegun) under whose watchful eyes the medications are prepared.
According to multiple account Osanyin rank as the Originator of all Juju (Charm) and Herbal medicine in Sub-Saharan Africa, there is a belief that Osanyin is the one who teaches all Herbalist in Sub-Saharan Africa, the source of herb and plant different study has been proof that, Osanyin is the explanation source's behind herbalist preparation.

Early life
Osanyin is an orisha of herbal knowledge, he is the spirit behind the preparation of Medicine from leaves and herbs. During his lifetime osanyin is a younger brother to Orunmila. The age difference between osanyin and Orunmila is so wide that orunmila is old enough to be osanyin grandfather.
Orunmila's mother give birth to osanyin at a very old age. Osanyin usually run errands for orunmila. Orunmila will send him where ever he want. But Osanyin is a great botanist he knows the names of leaves and their uses. He is naturally gifted from Olodumare with knowledge of herbs and their uses for health and other metaphysical purpose. He didn't learn how to use herb from any body other orisha learn the uses of herbs from him.
Osanyin knowledge come to prominence when, when ever orunmila send him on errands when osanyin was still a small boy, he will come back home crying that he can't cut the leaves and tree in the farm because of their uses. Orunmila begin to let osanyin help him in preparation of Medicine while orunmila continue with his divination work. Osanyin was a very handsome man strong and virile couple with his great knowledge. Osanyin become very proud and arrogant. Many diviner do come to him because of his knowledge and they respect him because he is Orunmila younger brother and orunmila was a great diviner.
Osanyin and sàngó‘
When Osanyin becomes Sango Godfather One day, Osanyin meets Ṣàngó in the forest. He gives young Ṣàngó a gourd that allows him to breath fire. As soon as Ṣàngó takes the gourd, he realizes his destiny as the orisha of fire and lightening. From then Osanyin becomes Ṣàngó‘s godfather and mentor.
Later on, Ṣàngó is passing through a village when he spots townspeople chasing a leper and tossing water on him. When Sàngó goes in rescue the leper, he discovers it is Osanyin in another form. Ṣàngó rubs herbs on Osanyin’s body to heal him. Then Osanyin falls at Ṣàngó’s feet in gratitude. When the townspeople wonder about this, since Osanyin is the elder of the two, he tells him, "Yes, I am older in age, but Ṣàngó is older in wisdom."
The one-eyed, one-armed, one-legged
Osanyin was not born disabled, according to multiple account, during of his life he was a very handsome boy. On a certain day a diviner call majuyagbe come to osanyin because of osanyin herbal knowledge to learn little from osanyin to cure certain disease, but osanyin refuse to teach majuyagbe any thing. He even arrogantly molest and abuse him. This diviner leave osanyin house very sad. And he feel very dejected and was crying on his way home. Majuyagbe come across Esu odara. Esu told him that what happened to you my friend, you always give me food, I can't see you in this sad mood and leave you to it. He answer it is Osanyin who molest me. I went to him for herbal knowledge but he decline arrogantly. Esu said no problems I will teach osanyin a great lesson at least I am in this world before him. Esu through his own ase (power of do as I say.) make a great wind with the help of Ajija (spirit of whirlwind) to attack Osanyin house, the house was destroyed into rubble. And osanyin was still inside. Osanyin lose his one leg, and one arm and one eye during the attack. Osanyin is yet to recover from his seek bed when a great war strike the town and Osanyin was taking ad slave. This is how osanyin went into captivity of slavery. This is what gives rise to how osanyin become orunmila slave.
OSANYIN became a slave to orunmila
News reach Orunmila that osanyin his younger brother which people do call his son because the age difference between orunmila and Osanyin is like that of a father to a son. that has been captivity into slavery, Orunmila was very sad with the news. And orunmila cast ifa divination will I be able to see and resque osanyin again ifa said yes.
Ifa said
"orunmila should offer sacrifice with ado gourds ere Oko (different farm produce) and after that orunmila should start buying slaves to work for him that one day he will see his brother.
The odu Ifa that appear on ifa divination tray that day is Odu ifa okanran oturupon.

Osanyin homecoming
Orunmila buy osanyin as slave unknown to him. Osanyin has become disabled and he has become very humble man although all his knowledge did not leave him. Osanyin was working as slave in orunmila farm. But he did not touch any plant. He makes just three ridges. Out of this three ridges he will metaphysically bring yam, vegetables and all other farm produce that orunmila household want.
This marvel the wives of orunmila. When they get home. They will say all the miracle osanyin was performing in the farm to orunmila. Orunmila will be marvel who is this disable slave that don't touch plant and bushes but bring forth all farm produce from just three ridges only.
Orunmila said I will visit the farm and see this slave myself. When orunmila get there. He as osanyin why it you don't touch bushes, and how did you come by this power? Osanyin answer I can't not touch them because all this things you called bushes have metaphysical and medicinal value. Orumila can't easily recognized osanyin as his brother because osanyin as loss his original voice. His voice now is sounding as if one is whistle. Orunmila after many interrogation and divination realise Osanyin as his long loss brother. Orunmila redeem Osanyin from slavery. Osanyin become practicing knowledge of herbs with humility. Osanyin become stronger than he was even when he has two legs and arms.
