Plot
There have been two significant events in the history of India: the debut of Sachin Tendulkar and the moment Srushti touched Ashish's hand. From now on, Srushti will be the love of his life, but it takes some effort to get her attention. Even Ashish's great-grandmother had to overcome a number of obstacles in her life: After being kicked out at home, she wandered around and eventually became the principal of a school. The family multiplied and when Ashish was born it was clear - every event in Ashish's life is accompanied by major political events.
Ashish is reluctant to go to school at first, but that changes suddenly when he takes Srushti to his heart. First attempts at contact fail, and when boys and girls are taught separately after the holidays, he is in despair. He finds out that Srushti has classes in the morning, so he now waits for her every day at 11:30 when school ends, but to no avail. An older rival also shows up who also has his eye on Srushti.
When the caste system abolishes school fees for Buddhists, a sense of injustice arises among Ashish's friends. They see each other as brothers and consider how to defy the system. To avoid being teased for being a Buddhist, Ashish is said to be called Ajatshatru, but his younger brother is already being teased about his unknown new name. Further attempts to contact Srushti about a bank doodle are rejected by her, which leads to riots in Bombay. To further attract her attention, Ashish takes part in all the school's competitions, after all the winners are announced at school. In addition, one of his poems is printed in the newspaper.
At the end there is finally a meeting with Srushti. Ashish goes through all sorts of scenarios, but the ending comes to a happy ending. The connection between Ashish and Srushti is covered in the world press because of their different caste affiliation. Seeing a united India as a threat, the world powers decide to launch a first strike on Kashmir, in which the religious leaders are self-sacrificingly killed. As a result, the powers make peace among themselves and destroy their nuclear weapons.
