Alan Pelaez Lopez
Alán Pelaez Lopez (unknown – current) is a poet and multimedia artist who creates work about their life experiences growing up Undocumented.
Biography
Alan was born in Mexico and migrated to the United States alone when they were five years old.[1] Their birth year is currently unknown. Their work "sick in 'america'",[2] which centers around the existence of intersectional identities in discriminatory spaces, was republished in Best American Experimental Writing 2020,[3] edited by Carmen Maria Machado, and has been examined in relation to affect theory.[4]
Other works include Intergalactic Travels: poems from a fugitive alien,[1] to love and mourn in the age of displacement,[5] and Fantasy America.[6] Pelaez Lopez is the creator of the hashtag #latinidadiscancelled, which gained traction in 2018.[7]
