Alex Bonetig
Alex Bonetig (born 20 August 2002) is an Australian footballer who plays as a defender for A-League club Western Sydney Wanderers.[1] Originally from Shellharbour, Bonetig has been playing with the Wanderers since signing with the academy in 2016.[2]

Club career
Youth career
Raised in Shellharbour, Bonetig started playing football at the age of 4 playing for Shellharbour Junior FC.[3]
He represented the Illawarra Under-9s and SAP Southern Branch Under-11s by the age of 9.[4] In November 2012, Bonetig went to England to train with Everton Academy and met former Australian International Tim Cahill after being chosen at a football clinic in Sydney to go.[4]
Western Sydney Wanderers
Having played in the youth level since 2016, Bonetig signed a 2-year scholarship deal on 9 June 2022 after impressing Head Coach Mark Rudan whilst training with the senior team.[5] On 22 January 2023, he made his professional senior debut against the Newcastle Jets, coming on as a substitute for Brazilian defender Marcelo who went down with an injury, the game ended in a 1-1 draw.[6]

Personal life
Bonetig has a younger brother, Liam, who also plays for the Western Sydney Wanderers.[2]
