- Also referred to as the Schaw-Batcher Shipbuilding Company in contemporary texts
- listed as "Western Purchase and Supply Company, San Francisco", obviously a mistake
- obviously something is not right with this number
- Two yards building wooden ships used the same name, one in Vancouver and one on the Columbia River in North Portland
- One of those, the War Viceroy was returned to the original owner right away
- The first 4 ships built at the yard were requisitioned, except for the last 2, all went to the USSB
- same as Skinner & Eddy No. 2, change of ownership in 1918
- Sources vary due to the assignment of contract no. 13 to Seattle Constr., but the building of some vessels by Todd Tacoma and the transfer of control of this yard to Skinner & Eddy
- 24 ships contracted with Todd Tacoma, 10 contracted with Seattle Constr., 14 cancelled. But at least 4 were built in Seattle, before Skinner & Eddy took over in the summer of 1918. And then 2 ships (Red Hook, Hoboken) in addition on yard account, outside of the scope of this article

Pacific Coast Shipbuilding Company
not to be confused with Pacific Coast Engineering.
The site of the yard covered 271 acres with 2800ft of waterfront. Henry T. Scott was president, John T. Scott general superintendent, both of the Moore & Scott Iron Works until a few months prior. The Southern Pacific, Santa Fe and Oakland, Antioch & Eastern railroads connected to the property, as well as pipelines of the Associated Oil, Shell Oil and Standard Oil companies.[30]
At the time, the neighboring town of Pittsburg was the home of the Columbia Steel Company's 800 ton-a-month steel foundry., but it was not equipped to produce plates needed for shipbuilding.
The town of Clyde, California was built as a company town to house workers. At the time it consisted of 103 houses and one hotel that could house 150. When the shipyard closed in 1921, Clyde was among potential sites that could be used as homes for disabled veterans.[31]
The available area was exceptionally large for a shipyard and since everything was new, the plant was laid out to improve efficiency of material flow and allow for possible future increase in capacity as well as good fire protection with ample space between buildings. Work started January 6, 1918 and already on May 1 the first keel was laid.[32]
