Astra Imperio

Astra Imperio is a tram produced by the Romanian company Astra Vagoane Călători in Arad. It is a 100% low-floor, designed in partnership with Siemens.[1][2] Imperio's design is based on the Avenio platform using electronic and traction equipment supplied by Siemens Mobility.[3][4] It is also available with local electronic and traction equipment supplied by ICPE-SAERP, using IVF 260FR inverters, along with SATREC and MBB31 control units; this variant, called Autentic, uses VEM DKABZ 0310-4 motors instead.[5]

The newest and biggest tram yet to be built by Astra Vagoane Calatori is the Astra Imperio Metropolitan. These trams were ordered by the Bucharest City Hall administration on behalf of the Bucharest Transport Society (STB for short), in an effort to make travel by tram more effective, attractive and comfortable to the citizens of the capital city. 100 are ordered and as of April 2023, 29 of them have arrived and are operating on 2 of Bucharest's busiest tram lines (41,25). The trams are currently served by two depots (Militari, Alexandria).
