Bhai Singha Purhoit
Bhai Singha Purohit, was Brahmin Kul-Purohit and military commander of 6th Sikh Guru Hargobind. He rescued Guru's young daughter Bibi Viro from Mughal's clutches. He killed Mughal commander Mohammed Ali before attaining martyrdom in battle against Mughals in Amritsar.[1][2]
Martyrdom
Kavi Santokh Singh wrote about this incident in his text Guru Pratap Suraj, and the lines describing it are as follows:
"Im Mare Maar Singhe Nihaar. Lalkaar Paryo Jeh Bal Udaar. Bal Bipra Guru Prodha Subhat. Tab Bhayo Samukh Maare Ulat." (Raas 6, Ansu 10, Page 2827).
These lines describe how Bhai Singha, a warrior and the Brahmin who was Guru's Purohit, challenged the enemy when he saw Sikhs being killed. His powerful arrows flew through the bodies of the enemies, hissing like snakes. He killed whoever came in his way and fought bravely alongside the other Sikh warriors. This incident showcases the courage and valor of the Sikh warriors during battles.[3]
