Altai State Humanities Pedagogical University

Biysk Teachers' Institute was established in 1939 and became a pedagogical (teachers' training) institute in 1953. In 2000 this institution of higher education received a university status. In 2001 Biysk Pedagogical State University was named after V. M. Shukshin. In 2010 the Shukshin Pedagogical State University of Biysk (Russian: Бийский педагогический государственный университет имени В. М. Шукшина) became the Shukshin Altai State Academy of Education (Russian: Алтайская государственная академия образования имени В. М. Шукшина),[2] and got its current name in 2015. More than 55 thousand students graduated from the university. Many students from different countries graduated from our university, including Russia, China, Mongolia, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and others. Among our graduates there are well-known teachers, psychologists, scientists, heads of various enterprises, artists, Olympic champions, etc.

The university is located in the small city of Biysk not far from the picturesque places of the Altai, a mountain range with eternal glaciers and the purest freshwater lakes. Shukshin Altai State University for Humanities and Pedagogy offers bachelor’s degree teachers-training programs in English, German, Chinese, Russian language and literature, Primary & Preschool Education, Physical Culture & Health, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Biology, Chemistry, Geography, and Technology. Bachelor’s degree programs in Psychology, Tourism, Fine Arts & Design, Land Management, Biology & Ecology are also available. There is also a large set of master’s degree teachers-training programs and doctoral degree programs in Educational Studies, Language & Literature and History.

In 2022, a Pedagogical Techno-park was opened at the university with modern labs for conducting pedagogical experiments.
