Bloody Hell is a coming-of-age comedy-drama film written and directed by Molly McGlynn, which premiered at South by Southwest on March 13, 2023.[1] It stars Maddie Ziegler and Emily Hampshire.[2][3]

Premise
The story centers around 16-year-old Lindy (Maddie Ziegler) who is diagnosed with a reproductive condition, MRKH syndrome. The diagnosis upsets her understanding of womanhood and sexual identity, and throws her relationships with her new boyfriend (D'Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai), her friends at her new high school, and her mother (Emily Hampshire) into disarray.[1]

Production
The film is semi autobiographical, as its creator, Molly McGlynn, was diagnosed with MRKH syndrome as a teenager.[4] In June 2022, it was announced that Ziegler and Hampshire were cast in lead roles.[4] Filming began in May 2022 in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada[5] and concluded on June 28, 2022.[6]
Release
The film premiered on March 13, 2023, in the narrative spotlight section of the South By Southwest Film Festival in Austin, Texas.[1] Elevation Pictures has the right to distribute the film in Canada.[4]
Reception
The film received generally positive reviews, after its premiere at SXSW, with critics praising Ziegler's performance and the message of the film.[1][2][3]
On the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, the film has an approval rating of 89% based on 9 reviews.[7]
