Calvin Lo (businessman)
Calvin Lo is a billionaire Hong Kong businessman. He is the CEO of R.E. Lee International, a life insurance brokerage firm, and the founder of R.E. Lee Capital, an asset management firm.[1][2][3]

Early life and education
Lo was born on October 6, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. He received his education at Queen's University in Canada and Harvard University in the United States.
Career
Lo joined his family business R.E. Lee International, a business empire founded in 1954.[4] R.E. Lee International is a life insurance brokerage firm that offers estate planning solutions to UHNI and succession planning to businesses.[5] Lo expanded the business into asset management and founded R.E. Lee Capital. Currently, the firm manages over US$12.5 billion in assets.[6]
In 2019, Lo's private investment company, R.E. Lee Octagon, acquired the Mandarin Oriental Taipei for US$1.24 billion. The deal covered the hotel building and its 149,446.13 square feet of land.[7][8][9]
In 2020, R.E. Lee Octagon made another major acquisition, purchasing the legendary motor racing team Williams Grand Prix Holdings, or Williams F1, for US$100 million.[4][10][11][12][13]
Wealth and philanthropy
In 2019, Lo was ranked the 43rd richest person in Hong Kong, with an estimated net worth of US$1.7 billion.[2][14] As of 2023, his net worth is over US$2 billion. Public filings show that Lo has set up different charitable trusts in the Cayman Islands worth US$245 million for his philanthropic initiatives.[15]
Lo also worked closely with the Jane Goodall Institute from 2006 to 2018 as their board member.[15]
During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, Lo donated US$13 million, 500,000 masks, and 35,000 boxes of sanitizers to Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Wuhan. The same year, Lo set up The 195 Project, a non-profit think tank, to support his US$245 million personal charity foundation.
Personal life
Lo rarely appears in the media. As of 2023, Lo lives in a mansion worth US$120 million in The Peak, Hong Kong. He owns a fleet of luxury cars, including Pagani Huayra BC and private jets.[16] Lo is Asia's largest purchaser and collector of French champagne and spent US$230 million on his collection in 2018.[17]
