Creation

Its main founder, Farid Ghehiouèche, campaigns for a legal regulation of drug use,[2][3] based on respect for human rights, risk prevention and the reduction of harm caused by the consumption of substances classified as narcotics. Farid Ghehiouèche regularly intervenes in the medias on behalf of the Cannabis sans frontières collective.[4][5][6] This 1901 law association is a member of the pan-European organization ENCOD and is affiliated in France to NORML France.

Actions

  • Organize of the World March for Cannabis in France since 2009.[7]
  • Support campaigns for prisoners of drug repression policies around the world (Michaël Blanc, Dana Beal, Bernard Rappaz, etc.)

Election campaigns

During the European elections of 2009, a list “Cannabis without borders – Movement for freedoms (Ecological alternative)” led by Farid Ghehiouèche presented itself in the Île-de-France constituency. This list obtains 0.14% of the votes cast. Farid Ghehiouèche is trying to run in the 2012 presidential election, first in the socialist primary and then directly in the presidential election. He does not obtain the required 500 signatures. During this campaign, in Évry, while reading an address to François Hollande and Manuel Valls, Ghehiouèche was arrested for contempt; he is sentenced to a suspended fine of 400 euros and 50 euros in damages to the attention of each of the three plaintiffs of the civil party (the insulted police officers). Farid Ghehiouèche ran for the 2012 legislative elections in the eighth constituency of Essonne: he won 187 votes, or 0.42% of the votes cast. For the 2014 European elections, a “Cannabis sans frontières – Stop prohibition” list, led by Farid Ghehiouèche, was presented in the Île-de-France – French from abroad constituency.[12] She obtained 0.23% of the votes cast.[13]

Political ideology

During the various campaigns in which the Cannabis sans frontières collective participated, its political line and its main objectives were defined as follows:

  • Peace, democracy and human rights: Struggles for a world without borders (no borders, no papers) / Justice everywhere - Police nowhere / Right to housing / Right to food / Right to subsistence income
  • Legalization of therapeutic plants and alternative therapies: therapeutic cannabis, iboga, therapeutic poppy, Ayahuasca, LSD, therapeutic coca, etc.[14]
  • Support for victims of repression for real or supposed drug use: Prohibition, repression, arrests, convictions, abolition of death penalty, prison-incarceration and confinement policy, long sentences, fines, etc.
