Biography

Thunberg was educated at the University of Gothenburg and Uppsala University. From 2010 to 2012 he had a leading part in the policy struggle to preserve the archaeological reconstructions at Gene fornby near Örnsköldsvik in Sweden.[5][6][7][8] He has conducted development work and lectured on didactic method for history as a school subject.[9] Thunberg became a fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland in 2016.[10] Works by Thunberg that have been especially used by scholars are his studies on Viking Age cultural encounters with the Muslim world and on the Battle of Fýrisvellir.[11][12][13][14][15] In 2022 he was appointed chairman of Västernorrland County Museum.[16][17]
