Early life and education

Malandrino was born in Grenoble in the French Alps to Italian parents.[1] She began her professional career in Paris after attending ESMOD.[1]

Career

French fashion designer Catherine Malandrino[1] moved from Paris to New York where she met with Diane von Fürstenberg. Following their meeting, Malandrino[1] was offered the position of senior designer and creative director of the HIGH re-launched house.

In 2001, Malandrino[1] created the “Flag Collection” which featured ultra-feminine, jagged flag dresses inspired by the American flag. The collection was well-received and helped establish Malandrino[1] as a designer to watch in the fashion industry.

Malandrino's success continued as she went on to design collections for Lacoste in 2011 and for Kohl's in 2013. Her designs have been praised for their unique blend of French and American styles, as well as their attention to detail and quality.

Writing

In 2017 Malandrino published the book Une Femme Française.[2]
