Professional career
Murphy went unsigned during the 2018 NFL Draft, but decided to sign with the San Diego Fleet of the Alliance of American Football for their 2019 season, though he remained on the practice squad during the league's early shutdown.[3] He then signed with the Arizona Cardinals to their practice squad, but was cut during their annual preseason cuts.[4] Murphy then spent the next 2 years away from football before being signed by the Panthers during the 2022 USFL season, where he remains as the Panthers' all-time leading scorer.
