Biography
At the age of 10, Eva Vik[2] began acting in leading Czech films and theatrical productions, thanks to her grandmother who entered her in a local casting call. Eva later became a regular in a Theatre Studio “V,” where she in addition co-wrote plays that were frequently performed for many years, even after her departure from the theatre.
At the age of 18, she moved to London to study acting at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art but stayed for one year only due to realizing her true calling in writing and directing. After RADA, Eva still participated in a few films with well-known directors such as Shane Black or Mike Figgis with whom she concurrently co-operated camera for his film Kudelski.
Eva then moved to Paris, where she began to form her own artistic voice in filmmaking.
In 2021, Eva was named in Forbes' prestigious 30 Under 30 feature.[3][4]
Personal life
Eva's birth surname is Doležalová, but In 2023, she took the maiden surname of her grandmother, Vik.[5] As Eva quoted in LA Weekly, she no longer felt inclined to follow the patriarchal structure of women being fastened to male surnames and instead wanted to continue the family name of strong and independent women such as her mother and grandmother. Eva's decision to embrace Vik surname also pays homage to her grandmother’s own inspiring journey. After hiding during WWII to eventually becoming a well-respected designer of hats, her grandmother’s story exemplifies the strength and resilience that Eva wishes to embody in her life and work.
Furthermore, Vik speaks five languages: English, French, Czech, Italian and Polish.
