Good Night (2023 film)

So The movie starts with the hero,(Manikandan)who comes from an average middle class family, who lost his dad to alcohol and has a younger and elder sister. His older sister is married to his friend who works at a water filter company, Their marriage was supported only by the hero, even though their whole family was against it, The hero works in an IT company, but always locks horns with his boss, due to his lack of fluency in English and is often looked down among his peers due to his snoring problem, He had a girl(his coworker at his office) reject him due to snoring problem. His snoring often earned him the name 'Motor' among his peers. On the other side we have the heroine (anu ) who is an orphan, and is living upstairs in a house owned by an old couple who are her house owners, but are very close to her and act as her own grandparents. The hero's brother in law who works at a water filter company happened to change filters in the old couple's house and had taken the hero along with him,where he meets the heroine and takes an intrest in her, they soon start dating,the heroine considers herself to be unlucky, due to her parents death at a young age.Hero reassures her and they start a new life together, however the hero is scared about his snoring problem and its impact on his marriage. The heroine however promises him that there is no problem. Later he comes to know that she has been sleep deprived for 2 weeks and had fainted at her office. The hero incredibly hurt by this, decides to sleep in another room, leaving relationship strained .The hero takes a lot of effort to overcome his problem, but nothing works and their relationship is strained over the days. Meanwhile, the hero's sister gets pregnant after a long time and during the function the heroine who considers herself to be unlucky, drops the kumkum container and considers it as a bad omen. After some days their sister loses the baby while talking to the hero on his phone, the hero blames upon himself for this accident while heroine blames upon herself as a bad omen, the heroine and hero's life gets strained over the few days while the hero's job is also disrespectful, the heroine gets a job offer at Dubai, and is willing to take it, as her relationship is strained, The couple patch up at the end of the film,after a funny encounter ,finishing off with how the heroine gets accustomed to the hero's snoring and loves her life with him.

The entire shooting was finished in November 2022 and the film was shot in Chennai[4].The first look poster of the film was released by Pa. Ranjith[5]and Vijay Sethupathi[6] on 10 February 2023.Teaser of the film was released by Jayam Ravi[7][8] and trailer released[9].Film was released on 12 May 2023.[10][11]

The music for the film was composed by Sean Roldan.

The film was released on 12 May 2023 and received positive reviews from critics. Logesh Balachandran critic of Times of india gave 3.5 out of 5 stars and stated that "All that said, Good Night is an example of how feel-good films can be made with simpler-yet-effective conflict. It's definitely worth watching."[12].Bhuvanesh Chandar critic of The Hindu wrote that " A spectacular Manikandan in a lovely slice-of-life drama"[13],

Kalyani Pandiyan S critic of Hindustan Times wrote that "Kudos to director Vinayak Chandrasekaran for not only writing such a beautiful story but portraying it on screen in such a heart-warming manner."[14]

Moviecrow.com critic gave 3 out of 5 rating[15].Senthilraja R critic from News 18 wrote that "The final scene of the film fills the theater with laughter. All in all, Good Night is a Sweet Dreams."[16]Janani K critic of Indiatoday.in gave 3 stars out of 5 and noted that "Good Night is a feel-good film that has its heart in the right place.
