Hellboy: The Crooked Man (film)

Hellboy: The Crooked Man is an upcoming American superhero film based on the comic book of the same name created by Mike Mignola and published by Dark Horse Comics. Directed by Brian Taylor from a screenplay by Mignola and Christopher Golden, with Jack Kesy in the title role, alongside Jefferson White and Adeline Rudolph. It is a reboot of the Hellboy film series, and the fourth live-action film in the franchise. Filming began in March 2023, in Bulgaria, and wrapped in May.

Premise

"In the 1950s, Hellboy and a rookie BPRD agent, stranded in rural Appalachia, discover a small community haunted by witches, led by a local devil with a troubling connection to Hellboy's past: the Crooked Man."[1]

In February 2023, it was reported that a film reboot of Dark Horse Comics' Hellboy was in the works at Millennium Media, after the critical and financial failure of Hellboy (2019), titled Hellboy: The Crooked Man, named after the eponymous miniseries. Brian Taylor had been hired to direct, with the comic's creator Mike Mignola and his collaborator on Dark Horse's Baltimore series Christopher Golden writing.[1][4] In early March, Jack Kesy was cast in the lead role,[2] and Jefferson White and Adeline Rudolph were cast as Tom Ferrell and Bobbie Jo Song respectively.[3]

Filming

Principal photography began in March 2023, in Bulgaria,[1] and wrapped on May 15.[5]
