Institute of Management in Kerala (IMK) is a premier management institute in India under the ‘’‘University of Kerala’‘’. It is a government institution (IMK is one of the 41 teaching departments of Kerala University) established in the year 1991 with a vision to create and disseminate knowledge in management and related disciplines. The institute is located near the international business hub of Kerala, “Technopark” Thiruvananthapuram. It offers MBA General, MBA Shipping and Logistics, MBA Travel and Tourism, MBA Evening, and doctoral programs.

IMK is one of the 41 teaching departments of Kerala University, which is one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in India. Kerala University has been accredited by NAAC with ‘A++’ grade and has been ranked among the top 50 universities in India by NIRF. IMK follows the curriculum and syllabus prescribed by Kerala University and adopts innovative pedagogical methods to impart quality education to its students. IMK also conducts various research studies and projects in collaboration with government agencies, industry associations and academic institutions.

Formerly, there were 8 IMK’s across Kerala. But from the year 2013, there is only 1 IMK as the teaching department of university of Kerala at Kariavattom campus, Thiruvananthapuram. Remaining IMK’s have been renamed to University Institute of Management (UIM) and function as autonomous institutions under Kerala University.

Institute of Management in Kerala is one of the oldest and most prestigious B-Schools in India. IMK offers:

• Four Semester MBA-General Program: This is the flagship program of IMK. It is a two-year full-time program that covers all the functional areas of management such as marketing, finance, human resources, operations, strategy, etc. The program is designed to prepare students for a career in management in any industry.
• MBA-Shipping and Logistics: (a new course offered by IMK). The course is designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge they need to work in the shipping and logistics industry. The course covers a wide range of topics, including supply chain management, transportation, warehousing, and customs clearance. The course also includes a number of industry-specific case studies.
• Four Semester MBA-Travel & Tourism Program: This is a specialized program that focuses on the travel and tourism industry. The program covers a wide range of topics related to the industry, such as hospitality, travel, destination management, etc. The program is designed to prepare students for a career in the travel and tourism industry.
• Four Semester MBA-Evening Program: This is a part-time program that is designed for working professionals who want to enhance their skills and knowledge in management. The program is offered in the evenings and weekends, so that students can continue to work while they are studying.
• Doctoral & Post-Doctoral Program: IMK also offers doctoral and post-doctoral programs in management. These programs are designed for students who want to pursue a career in research and academia.

The head of the institute is ‘prof. Dr. R. Vasanthagopal’, a renowned scholar and academician with more than three decades of experience in teaching, research and consultancy. He has published several books and papers in national and international journals and conferences. He has also received several awards and recognitions for his contributions to management education and research.

IMK offers a range of courses and programs to cater to the diverse needs and aspirations of its students. The MBA program is a two-year full-time course that covers all the functional areas of management such as marketing, finance, human resources, operations, strategy etc. The MBA General program is a flexible course that allows students to choose their electives from any stream. The MBA Tourism program is a specialized course that focuses on the tourism sector and its various aspects such as hospitality, travel, destination management etc. The MBA Evening program is a three-year part-time course that is designed for working professionals who want to enhance their skills and knowledge in management. The doctoral program is a rigorous research-oriented course that leads to the award of PhD degree in management.

IMK has a well-qualified and experienced faculty team that consists of professors, associate professors and assistant professors who have expertise in various domains of management. The faculty members are actively involved in teaching, research and consultancy activities. They also participate in various faculty development programs, workshops and seminars to update their knowledge and skills.

• Mania (Managers in action) is a management fest conducted by the MBA General program at IMK. The fest is a two-day event that features a variety of competitions, workshops, and events. Some of the popular competitions at Mania include the case study competition, the business plan competition, and the marketing quiz Best Manager, Best Management Team, Finance ,HR ,operations ,Marketing Games . The fest also features a number of workshops and events on topics such as entrepreneurship, leadership, and innovation.
