Early life and high school
McCain lives in Corona, California and attends Centennial High School.[1] He was named the California Gatorade Player of the Year as a junior after averaging 16.9 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game.[2] He was selected to play in the 2023 McDonald's All-American Boys Game during his senior year.[3] McCain averaged 17.7 points, 7.1 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 1.5 assists per game for Centennial during the season and repeated as the.[4]

McCain played for the United States under-18 basketball team at the 2022 FIBA Under-18 Americas Championship.[9]
