Kankan (rapper)

Keandrian Qynzel Jones[1] (born September 22, 2000) known professionally as Kankan is an American rapper, producer, and songwriter. Jones is characterized by his heavily auto-tuned rapping style and "Really Rich" (RR) imagery built on living a lavish lifestyle coupled with the glorification of pharmaceuticals such as Codeine and Promethazine. Born and raised in Dallas, Kankan gained initial recognition as a producer in which he worked with SoundCloud rap artists such as Famous Dex. and Smokepurpp.

Early life

Jones was born on September 22, 2000, in Dallas, Texas. Jones grew up listening to artists the likes of Chief Keef and Speaker Knockerz. Growing up, Jones did not initially plan on becoming a rapper. In an interview, Jones is quoted with saying that he started rapping initially, "as a joke". After realizing how fun it was to make music, Kankan began to pursue music fully.[2]

Career

Kankan initially started as a producer having previously produced for other rappers such as Duwap Kaine, Lil Pump, and Famous Dex.

In 2019, Kankan collaborated with trans artist Fifty Grand who produced for artists such as XXXTentacion, Bones, and Night Lovell.[3]

Later in 2021, Kankan released two projects titled Oxy & Codeine, and RR which helped him garner attention in the underground rap scene. In December 2021, he appeared on American rapper K Suave's album Sexually Active.[4]

In April 2022, he toured alongside American rapper Lucki for his "2 Neptune n Back" tour.[5] In October 2022, Kankan released a new album titled Way2Geeked.[6] In January 2023, he featured on American rapper BabyTron's album Bin Reaper 3 on the track "Dirty Draco".[7]
