Lal Shari

Lal Shari is an upcoming Bangladeshi government funded film directed by Bandhan Biswas. It features Apu Biswas and Symon Sadik in the main leads. It is the first produced film of Apu Biswas under the banner of Apu – Joy Cholochitra.[1]

Plot

The plot of the Lal Shari portraits livelihood of loom craftsman community. Bangladeshi saree was once appreciated outside the country. The traditional loom industry of rural Bangladesh is disappearing. The story behind why it is disappearing and the lost tradition of looming Shari and jamdani will come out in this movie. It represents our rich heritage and culture. It symbolizes the beauty of Bengali women, and how each and every thread is crafted by the weavers depict a beautiful tale of love and emotion.[2]

Production

Lal Shari is a government funded film. In the financial year 2022-23, the movie 'Lal Shari' produced by Apu-Joy Kathachitra received a grant of Tk 65 lakh. The movie will be produced under Apu's production company, Apu-Joy Productions. This is the first film of this production company. Apu Biswas is making his debut as a producer by producing the movie 'Lal Shari'.[1][3]

Bishwa Rang owner and fashion designer Biplob Saha is the creative and costume designer of this movie.[4]

This movie has been shot in the very beautiful and tidy Kauri village located just in front of Jhitka Bazar in Harirampur Upazila, 18 km from Manikganj city near Dhaka.[5][6][7]

Music

Emon Saha will serve as the music director.[1]

Release

Lal Shari will be released in April 2023 during the Eid holidays.[8][9]
