Development

LibreWolf was initially released for Linux operating systems on March 7 2020.[3] One year later, it was made available for Windows and soon for macOS.[4][5] Portable AppImage for Linux was also released.[6] LibreWolf community creates an installable and a portable version of browser for Windows. It is also available in Microsoft store and Windows Package Manager.[7]

Features

LibreWolf is much like its base browser Firefox. It uses themes and extensions from Mozilla addons. Its primary goals are privacy, security and user freedom. It has DuckDuckGo as its default search engine.[8] An exceptional feature of LibreWolf is that it removed the codes which implies telemetry feature to Firefox and comes with the extension uBlock pre-installed. It also has some Firefox features removed like ‘Add to Pocket’ service.[9][10][11]

Licence

The browser is licenced by Mozilla Public Licence 2.0 while the website is licensed by GNU AGPL 3.0. [12]
