Lincoln Oaklanders football

The Lincoln Oaklanders are the college football team representing Lincoln University of Oakland, California. The program began in 2021[1] as an independent, and by September 2021 hoped to join the NCAA by 2022.[2] During its first two seasons, Lincoln played its games exclusively as the visitor.

In 2023, columnist Omar-Rashon Borja of RedshirtSports opined that RingCentral Coliseum ought to be repurposed into a facility to host Lincoln games.[3]

2021 season

The head coach in 2021 was Desmond Gumbs, while Desmond Bishop served as defensive coordinator.

2022 season

In 2022, the Oaklanders faced a Southland Conference opponent, losing to Texas A&M Commerce,[4] and a pair of Big Sky Conference opponents, falling to Portland State[5] and then Southern Utah.[6]
