National Fisheries Development Board building

The National Fisheries Development Board, located in Hyderabad, India, is the headquarters of India's national fisheries and aquaculture industry. The building itself is notable as a unique example of memetic or novelty architecture, being designed in the shape of a gigantic fish.[1][2][3] Although Hyderabad is an inland city in Telangana, a landlocked state, Hyderabad is the location of the head of India's fisheries department, partly due to the state of Telangana including the majority of catchment area of major rivers such as the Godavari and Krishna. The building has a drive-through, and is wheelchair and disability-accessible.

The building's unique appearance has led to mixed reactions from the public, with many Hyderabad residents positively viewing the building due to its unique, eclectic, and instantly recognizable design, while others have criticized the building due to the usage of memetic architecture being viewed as a folly, with others criticizing the execution of the design of the fish itself, with some describing it as "unfortunate", akin to "a shark that has swallowed a blimp".[4]
