Nehemiah Fernandez-Veliz (born 11 December 2004) is a French footballer who plays as a centre-back for French club Paris Saint-Germain.

Club career

Born in Stains, Seine-Saint-Denis, Fernandez-Veliz signed for the Paris Saint-Germain Academy in September 2016,[1] joining from AAS Sarcelles.[2][3] He signed his professional contract with the club on 2 June 2022,[3][4] as he had already trained with Mauricio Pochettino's first team.[2][5]

During the 2021–22 and 2022–23 seasons, Fernandez-Veliz became a key member of the under-19 team, playing in the UEFA Youth League.[3][6][7][8] He first appeared on the team sheet in Ligue 1 on 19 March 2023, being selected by Christophe Galtier for a home match against Rennes.[9]

International career

A youth international for France, Fernandez-Veliz first played for his country's under-16s, making his debut inb September 2019 during a friendly against Wales.[1] He played his first and only game with the under-18s on 26 March 2022, starting in a 2–1 friendly win over the Netherlands,[10] before stepping up to the under-19s.[11]

Style of play

Fernandez-Veliz is described as a technically gifted ball-playing central defender, good at winning duels, and not bothered by their physicality.[1]
