Name
The name of the group alludes to the fact many Quebecers are descendants of settlers from France’s Normandy region. Its members are almost entirely military veterans, who either have family in Ukraine or were appalled by the invasion and reports of alleged Russian war crimes.[4]
People of the Norman Brigade
"Wali", a retired Canadian Army sniper who was briefly with the brigade,[1] said he travelled via Poland to volunteer, and that the Norman Brigade started as a humanitarian effort to deliver aid in eastern Ukraine.[5]
