Rijal (surname)

Rijal (Rizal) (Nepali: रिजाल) is a surname that belongs to the people of Nepal. Most of the Rijals are inhabitant in eastern Nepal. Dhananjaya is the Gotra associated with this surname.Most of rijals who are living in Morang district were migrated from Dhankuta,eastern mountain district ,for example late former prime minister Nagendra prasad Rijal’s family as well as former minister Dr Minendra Prasad Rijal’s family and there are so many rijal families who used to be so called rich jamindar(land lord) of morang district ,Rijal families were rich aristocrats of morang district ,it’s also said that rijal used to invest their money to marwadis in Biratnagar long time ago ;because of rijal family marwadis in Biratnagar could grow and establish as industrialists .There are so many rijals who still have good amount of fortunes in Nepal.


Rijals live in Nepal, India, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, the USA, the UK, Australia in significant numbers and few families live in more than 100 countries.
