Robots is a 2023 American science fiction romantic comedy film written and directed by Anthony Hines and Casper Christensen and starring Shailene Woodley and Jack Whitehall.[1][2] It is based on "The Robot Who Looked Like Me" by Robert Sheckley.[3]

Premise

Set in an era where advanced robotics have enabled humanity to utilize lifelike androids as servants and manual laborers, affluent suburbanites Elaine and Charles use android doubles of themselves to avoid the time constraints of dating. But when the imposters realize that they are actually falling in love, they steal the identities of their owners and go on the run, forcing Elaine and Charles to team up and get their lives back.

Emma Roberts was initially cast until Shailene Woodley replaced her.[8][9][10]

Filming occurred in New Mexico in August 2021.[11]

Release

Robots had a simultaneous theatrical and on-demand release on May 19, 2023.[12]
