Santosham (1955 film)

Santosham (transl.Happiness) is a 1955 Telugu-language drama film, produced by M. Somasundaram under the Jupiter Pictures banner and directed by C. P. Deekshith. The film stars N. T. Rama Rao, Anjali Devi and Jamuna, with music composed by Viswanathan–Ramamoorthy. It is a remake of the Tamil film Velaikari (1949) and it was simultaneously made in Hindi as Naya Aadmi (1956).[1]

Plot

Zamindar Dayanidhi a capitalist stingy tyrant tramples the destitute with loans. Sundaraiah a pleb strives and craves his son Anand as an advocate by mortgaging his house at Dayanidhi. Regardless, he callously auctions Sundaraiah’s property which leads to his suicide. Anand backs, acquainted with his childhood acuity mate Mohan. Following, he collapses viewing his father’s corpse, and aborted a bid to slay the Dayanidhi. Here, Mohan tutors him to go according to the secular world and seek vengeance by hitting the foe with brainpower. At that point, fortuitously, they spot an accident in which England-returned tycoon Paramanand the doppelganger of Anand dies. Thus, Mohan steers Anand and makes his swap who nears and cares for Parmanand’s blind mother Radhabai. Presently, he learns about his nuptial with Dayanidhi’s snobbish daughter Sarasa. Exploiting it, he moves on, thence, he mocks & ruffles Dayanidhi by swindling his ill-gotten wealth and asperity towards Sarasa. Besides, Murthy the benignant son of Dayanidhi crushes on their maid Amrutham. Being cognizant of it, Dayanidhi wiles to slaughter her but she absconds and lands at Hyderabad. Whereat, a lunatic millionaire Parvathalu muddles for his long-lasting daughter Kamala who deludes Amrutham as her. On the grounds of the Doctor, she nurses with gentle affection and convalesces him when he cozied her as his own. Meanwhile, desolate Murthy quits as a tramp and resides in a ashram for tranquillity. However, discerning its chieftain Harihara Das as a masked cat he enrages and accidentally wipes him out. Now, Anand appears as the defense council in disguise and acquits him. Further, he tricks with gameplay with Parvathalu and knits Murthy & Amrutham. On that occasion, the Police forward to apprehend Dayanidhi as the homicide of Amrutham which stifles him and attempts to kill himself. Anand secures him, unveils his true self, divulges the actuality, and is about to exit when all accompanies him. At last, Dayanidhi reforms after soul-searching and pleads for pardon. Finally, the movie ends on a happy note.
