History

The church was built between 1849 and 1850 in sandstone, it was built by Charles Hansom and the spire was not added until later in 1868 when it was added to the church tower with a height of 160 ft. It is the tallest structure in the town (which was previously held by the now-demolished Rugeley Power Station). It can be seen from the Cannock Chase and surrounding settlements/hills.

Present day

The church is an active place of worship and community hub[5] used for both religious and non-religious purposes. It was heavily restored in October 2010 and has been grade listed since 1995.[6][7]
