Stadion im. Kazimierza Górskiego

Stadion im. Kazimierza Górskiego (English: Kazimierz Górski Stadium), known for sponsorship reasons as the Orlen Stadion since March 2023,[1] is a multi-use stadium in Płock, Poland. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home of Wisła Płock. The stadium is also known as the Stadion Wisły Płock in connection with its most common host.

Stadium characteristics

The stadium was built in 1973. It was designed by Jacek Kwieciński i Janusz Mariański[2]. It was estimated that it could held up to 30,000 spectators, but in 1996 capacity was reduced to 10,978.[3]

In 2019 it was announced that the stadium will be majorly reconstructed. The design was drawn by Perbo Group and the constuction was held by Mirbus S.A. It started in 2020[4] and completed in 2023. After that it will hold 15,004 spectators and will meet UEFA Category 3 criteria.[5] The construction costed PLN 166 million (US$44 million).

Name

It is named after Kazimierz Górski since 2004.[6] In March 2023 PKN Orlen signed a five-year sponsorship deal, renaming the stadium as Orlen Stadion and keeping Kazimierz Górski as its patron.
