Steve Hanft

Steve Hanft is a writer, director, musician, and artist.

Early life

Steven Paul Hanft was born in Ventura, California where he started making films at the age of nine. He has an MFA in Experimental Narrative Film from CalArts.[1]

Career

Hanft is known for making music videos for the Cure, Primal Scream, Delinquent Habits, and Beck. Most notably Hanft directed the Beck, Loser video, and the Beck, Where It's At video, that won an MTV award.

Hanft is also known for making films. In 1998, he made an experimental documentary with Elliott Smith, called Strange Parallel.

In 2007, Hanft produced and starred in the Cannes Film Festival Bronze Lion winning short, "Sunglass Catch".

Hanft also writes and plays music. He has released several records including the recent, April March and Steve Hanft, Magic Monsters.
