Suntan (1976 film)

The film begins in a village where Dinanath, a laborer determined to civilize his son Kishore and knit him with his friend’s daughter Shanu. In the city, Kishore cons and concocts a toff by which he woos a rich girl Latha who detests the destitute. Once Kishore visits the home when he deceits Shanu as a result, she becomes pregnant. Immediately, Dinanath rushes to tie them up. Until he weds Latha when Dinanath revolts, but he is expelled. However, Latha senses the truth when Kishore promises to never affirm them as his parents. Grief-stricken Dinanath silently quit the village. Afterward, Shanu passes away giving birth to a baby girl Parvati as well as Latha also blessed with a son Ravi. Tragically, Dinanath loses his eyesight in an accident when his wife Tulasi joins as a maid at Kishore’s residence unbeknownst. Thus, Kishore requests her not to disclose her identity which she does. Years roll by, and Ravi, a medico, grows under the caring of Tulasi and is warmest towards her family. He falls for a girl Sarita the daughter of Advocate Baldev Raj. Ongoing, elderly Tulasi becomes terminally ill and dies, divulging the reality to Ravi. Here, Kishore avoids her funeral too when devastated Dinanath attempts suicide and is declared dead. Now, Ravi decides to teach his parents a lesson and play acts with the support of Sarita and Baldev Raj. Subsequently, they needle them as a counterattack which makes them realize their sins. Just the creditor lands to arrest Kishore & Latha. At last, Dinanath returns alive by recouping his vision and clearing the debts. Finally, the movie ends on a happy note with the marriage of Ravi & Sarita, and they construct a memorial hospital in the name of Tulasi.
