Development and release

Tinykin was the second game by Splashteam, a French indie game development studio founded in 2020.[14] Romain Claude had received an Advanced Degree for Game Design and Production Management between 2006 and 2008.[15] After Claude graduating, he became a designer at Ubisoft until 2012.[15] After lefting Ubisoft, Claude began work on his first game Splasher alongside Richard Vatinel, a 2D artist and animator whom Claude met him at school in 2006.[15]

After developing his first game Splasher, Vatinel moved away from game development to focus on drawing and teaching. In 2018, he created Bubble Town as part of the Global Game Jam 2019.[15] The small team working on Bubble Town became interested in the feeling of exploration with a tiny group of followers and decided "we should try to make a real game out of it".[15] Tinykin was announced as a trailer in June 2021 at PC Gaming Show.[13] On September 2021, the game was confirmed to be released in Summer 2022.[16] In June 2022, the game was revealed to be release in August 30, 2022.[2] The game later received a challenge mode, a mode that players complete with new events and communicate with other players for new ways to play and via an free update on December 20, 2022.[17]
