Life and death

Yasin Börü was from a religious Muslim Kurdish family and had a conservative upbringing. Between 6 and 8 November 2014, the HDP called for people to protest the Siege of Kobanî by the Islamic State. On October 7, the fourth day of Eid al-Adha, Yasin Börü, and his friends Riyat Güneş, Ahmet Dakak and Hasan Gökgüz, were gifting sacrificial meat to a Kurdish organization with ties to the Hüda Par so that it would be given to poor families. In the middle of their delivery, they were interrupted in the Bağlar district of Diyarbakır by masked and armed PKK sympathizers, who were attending the protests. Yasin Börü and his friends were beaten, stabbed, and shot by the PKK sympathizers, and then they were pushed off the top floor of a building and ran over by a car, which Yasin instantly died after.[2][3] Protests were held for Yasin in Ankara, as there was fears that if they were held in Diyarbakir, they would again be attacked by the PKK.[4]
