In June of the year 1395 Zhu Shangbing was awarded the title of Prince of Qin (秦王) as a reward of suppressing the riots of Gao Fuxing, a native of Mian County .[2]

When Prince Yan dethroned his nephew and proclaimed himself emperor, he once sent envoys to Xi'an. Zhu Shangbing was arrogant and rude at first, but was threatened by the emperor, and he apologized. In the tenth year of Yongle's reign (1411), he died and was given the posthumous title of Yin.[3]
