Aligarh
Aligarh is a city in Uttar Pradesh, India. It is the headquarters of the Aligarh district of Uttar Pradesh state. This city is famous for lock industries and Aligarh Muslim University. Aligarh is one of the largest cities of the state. It is also the 55th largest city of the nation.[2]

The Battle of Aligarh was fought on 1 September 1803 during the Second Anglo-Maratha War (1803–1805) at Aligarh Fort. Aligarh district is divided into five tehsils, namely Kol Tehsil, Khair Tehsil, Atrauli, Gabhana and Iglas. These tehsils are further divided into 12 blocks.2011 census showed the Aligarh urban area with a population of 12,74,408.[3]
