Cervix
The cervix is part of the base end of the uterus (womb). The cervix is part of the human female reproductive system. The cervix is the part of the uterus which protrudes into the vaginal canal. The cervix is usually 2 to 3 cm long (~1 inch) and roughly cylindrical in shape. Its function is like that of an entrance to the uterus, or womb. The cervix also allows menstrual blood to flow out of the uterus during the normal reproductive cycle of the female, and allows sperm to access the uterus to fertilize an ovum, or egg.
