Doug Emhoff

Douglas Craig Emhoff (born October 13, 1964) is an American entertainment lawyer. He is the Second Gentleman of the United States, the first ever man to be Second Gentleman. He is the husband of Vice President of the United States Kamala Harris.[1]

He is also the first Jewish spouse to a United States Vice President.

Emhoff is an entertainment litigator and began his career at Pillsbury Winthrop’s litigation group.[2]

Emhoff worked with DLA Piper at their Washington, D.C. and California offices.

Emhoff and Harris have homes in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C.[3]

Biography

Early Life, Education & Family

Emhoff was born in Brooklyn, New York, and raised in Matawan, New Jersey, by his parents, Mike and Barbara, with his siblings, Jamie and Andy. His family moved to the Los Angeles area during his teen years. Mr. Emhoff earned a B.A. from California State University, Northridge and a J.D. from University of Southern California Gould School of Law. He and the Vice President have been married for eight years and are the proud parents of Cole and Ella Emhoff.

Second Gentleman of the United States (2021–present)

Emhoff assumed the role and duties as the second gentleman of the United States succeeding Karen Pence, when his wife was inaugurated as the 49th vice president of the United States on January 20, 2021.

Emhoff is the first male spouse of a Vice President. As Second Gentleman, he helped raise awareness of growing antisemitism.
