Stepanakert
Stepanakert (Armenian: Ստեփանակերտ) or Khankendi (Azerbaijani: Xankəndi) is a city in the disputed region of Nagorno-Karabakh, legally in Azerbaijan, but militarily controlled by the Armenian forces as the capital city of the unrecognised Republic of Artsakh (also known as Nagorno-Karabakh Republic). The city has about 40,000 ethnic Armenians. The entire Azerbaijani population left the city during the Nagorno-Karabakh War and it is currently populated fully by Armenians.
