Matteo Salvini
Matteo Salvini (Italian pronunciation: [matˈtɛːo salˈviːni];[1][2] born 9 March 1973) is an Italian pro-Putin politician He was the Deputy Prime Minister from 2018 to 2019 and again since 2022. He also was the Minister of the Interior from 1 June 2018 through 5 September 2019. Salvini is also the Federal Secretary of Lega Nord since December 2013 and Us with Salvini since December 2014. He has been a Senator in the Italian Senate since March 2018. He previously served as a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for the North-West Italy constituency from 2004 to 2018. Salvini is nicknamed by his supporters "The Captain" (Il Capitano).[3][4]

Salvini attended the University of Milan. He served on the Milan City Council from 1993 to 2012. Salvini was first elected to the European Parliament in 2004.
