New Braunfels, Texas
New Braunfels (i/ˌnjuː ˈbrɔːnfəlz/ newbrawn-fəlz) is a city in Comal and Guadalupe counties in the U.S. state of Texas. It is the seat of Comal County.[1] New Braunfels is a principal city of the San Antonio–New Braunfels metropolitan statistical area. The city's population was 57,740 at the 2010 census. In 2015, its estimated population is 70,543.

New Braunfels is 30 miles (48 km) northeast of downtown San Antonio.[1] It is 19 miles (31 km) southwest of San Marcos, and 45 miles (72 km) southwest of Austin.[1]
New Braunfels was established in 1845 by Prince Carl of Solms-Braunfels.[1] Prince Solms named the settlement in honor of his home in Solms-Braunfels, Germany.[2] The city has a strong German influence. This is seen in the downtown area architecture.[3] The city uses ZIP codes 78130–78133 and telephone area code (830).
