Owen Woodhouse

Lieutenant Commander Sir Arthur Owen Woodhouse ONZ KBE DSC (18 July 1916 – 15 April 2014), better known as Owen Woodhouse, was a New Zealand lawyer, jurist and chair of government commissions. He was a member of the Supreme Court. He later served as President of the Court of Appeal from 1981 until 1986.

Woodhouse was born in Napier and studied at the University of Auckland. During World War II, he served as a lieutenant commander in the Royal New Zealand Naval Volunteer Reserve.

Woodhouse died from natural causes on 15 April 2014 in Auckland, aged 97.[1]
