The Fir Tree
"The Fir Tree" is a literary fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen. It was published with "The Snow Queen" in Copenhagen, Denmark on 21 December 1844. The story tells of a fir tree unhappy with his life in the forest. He is cut and taken to the city where he becomes a decorated Christmas tree. He is thrilled, but the excitement is shortlived. One day he is discarded.
