The Southerner is a 1945 American drama movie directed by Jean Renoir and was based on the 1941 novel Hold Autumn in Your Hand by George Sessions Perry. It stars Zachary Scott, Betty Field, J. Carrol Naish, Beulah Bondi, Percy Kilbride, Charles Kemper, Blanche Yurka, Norman Lloyd, Estelle Taylor and was distributed by United Artists. It was nominated for 3 Academy Awards in 1946.
