Jamell Maurice Demons (born May 1, 1999), better known as YNW Melly, is an American rapper, singer and songwriter. He was born in Gifford, Florida. He was best known for his songs "Murder on My Mind" and "Mixed Personalities" featuring Kanye West. He released his album, We All Shine, in January 2019. He was in jail but is now released and is waiting for trial where he can get a death penalty

In February 2019, Demons was charged with two counts of first-degree murder relating to a shooting that took place in October 2018.[2] Jury selection for his trial took place on April 11, 2023.[3] It will take place sometime in June 2023.[4]

In April 2020, during the 2019–20 coronavirus pandemic, Demons tested positive for Covid-19 but was denied bond.[5]
