About Shakti Pitha
The Mandir is one of the oldest pilgrimage centers of Hindu mother goddess and one of the four major Shakti Pithas and Tantra Pithas of India where Sthana Khanda of Maa Sati fell.[2]The shrine is considered one of the major pilgrimage centres of the Shakta (Shaktism) sect of Hinduism.[3]

The origin of Shakti Pithas are related to Daksha Yajna and Sati's self-immolation. The Shakti Pitha shrines lead to the development of Shaktism in India. Shakti Pithas are considered holy abodes of Parashakti.
Chaitra Jatra
Chaitra Jatra or Tara Tarini Jatra takes place every Tuesday of the Hindu month of Chaitra,[4] i.e., from mid-March to mid-April at the premises of this shrine.

Each Sankrati (1st day of the solar Hindu month), special pujas are done in the mandir.
