Name

  • Numerous references to a so-called Tydeus caudatus are listed in André (2011). Dugès could not describe the same mite species in two distinct groups (Tenuipalpidae and Tydeidae). The real identification of Tydeus caudatus auctorum varies depending on the reference and remains undetermined in most cases (but see the notes). Tydeus caudatus is thus a nomen nudum although it is still used in later publications [e.g. Tempfli et al. (2015: 941), Arnaudov (2016: 186, 190), Darbemamieh et al. (2016: 603, 608) , Silva et al. (2016: 35)].
