Saint-Justin is a parish municipality of the Maskinongé Regional county municipality (MRC de Maskinongé), in Basse-Mauricie.

History

The zinnia flower is the emblem of the municipality. The municipal motto is: "By the cross and the plow" signifying the toil of the farmers and the Catholic faith of the inhabitants.

Geography

The village of Saint-Justin was built at the junction of the Gérin road and the Duchesnay street. The population lives mainly in two areas:

  • along rue Duchesnay (west bank of the Ormière river) and Gagné road (east bank of the same river);
  • along the rue Savoie (west bank of the Bois Blanc river) and the Bois Blanc road (east bank of the same river).

The north-western part of the territory is mostly wooded and mountainous. Apart from the main village, the south-eastern zone is mainly agricultural. The Canadian National Railway, which was built at the foot of the mountains, separates the two zones.

Economy

The economic activities of Saint-Justin are centered on forestry, agriculture, recreational and tourism activities (resorts, sugar shacks, bike, snowmobile, VTT).

Get in

The village of Sainte-Ursule is accessible by road, bike, snowmobile and all-terrain vehicles.

By car

  • From Montreal (104 km (65 mi), 1 hr 13 min). Take highway 40 (north shore) eastbound, to Maskinongé; take the Montée St-Laurent (northbound); take the Pied de la Côte road (eastbound); take the Bois Blanc road (northbound); take the Gérin road (eastbound) to the village of Saint-Justin.
  • From Quebec City (177 km (110 mi), 1 hr 50 min). Take highway 40 (direction West), until Yamachiche; take route 138 (westbound) to Louiseville; take route 348 (northbound) to the village of Sainte-Ursule; take the Gérin road (westbound) to the village of Saint-Justin.

Events

  • La Fête des moissons. As part of the Harvest Festival, around forty exhibitors present their products and services. This event, which is aimed at the whole family, includes: inflatable games, a mini-farm, a make-up artist, a friendly apple pie competition, an exhibition of old tools and machinery, crafts from the past and an exhibition of old or modified cars.
  • L'expo autos. The Saint-Justin Auto Expo, as part of the Harvest Festival, is a family exhibition where young and old will have a great day. The Municipality of Saint-Justin is proud to welcome you "Between fields and mountains".
