Etymology
From Hokkien 肉麵/肉面 (bah-mī), from 肉 (bah, “meat, flesh; pork”) + 麵/面 (mī, “noodles”). See also Hokkien 牛肉麵/牛肉面 (gû-bah-mī), where 牛 (gû, “beef”) may have simply been omitted from.
